Community members create apps that allow broadcasters to personalize their chat room experience. With apps, the potential for creating unique shows and engaging games within chat rooms is limitless. You can set goals, automate chat notices with your room rules, add a tip menu, play games with your viewers, and more!
Open the Broadcast Yourself page to access Chaturbate Apps, and then click the Apps tab to view the App Directory. The App Directory provides a seamless app experience for both version 2 (V2) and version 1 (V1-legacy) apps in one directory. Within the directory, you can start and stop apps and search or browse to find the type of apps you are looking for.
You can run up to 10 V2 and 6 V1 legacy apps and bots simultaneously in your room.
- V2: These newer apps have custom icons and typically have better features and performance.
- V1: These legacy apps have gray default icons and a Legacy label. They are apps from the initial launch.
Use the Search bar in the App Directory or browse the listed app categories to find the apps you seek. You can also start or stop apps, mark apps as favorites, or give an app ratings and reviews.
V2 apps have newer features and improved functions than older legacy apps. These are some of the advantages V2 apps have over legacy V1 apps:
- Continually running: V2 apps start running when installed and stay running between broadcasts, unlike legacy apps that must be restarted every broadcast.
- Change settings on the fly: Any changes to a V2 app run automatically. You must restart legacy apps to change settings.
- Custom app icon: Look for customized color app icons or a blue default icon to indicate the app is V2.
- Save app data between broadcasts: V2 apps can remember app data like tip leaders from broadcast to broadcast. Legacy apps lose all data at the end of each show.
- Broadcast panel: All V2 apps can control the content shown in the broadcast panel, which displays app content.
Apps are written in JavaScript, and made by community members. Using the apps API, you can create an endless number of games and tools for chat rooms, create your own apps, or have a developer create one for you.
